Find the Spanish language course for you with 123TeachMe
When I first found that 123TeachMe ordered this ReviewMe review I was a little taken aback. As the great Ron Burgundy said, "I don't speak Spanish". Not to worry, it was time to dive into the deep end!
The 123TeachMe search function
At its core, the site allows users to compare tuition costs, quality and overall value for money of over 900 Spanish language schools world wide. Furthermore, the site includes an advanced search function which allows users to delve deeper in order to find specialist language subjects, that cover fields such as medicine, legal, literature and the arts.
Introductory lessons
After a few minutes browsing the site, my first impressions were positive. It was quite clear, quite early on, that 123TeachMe could quite comfortably replace a majority of phrase books. The site offers a number of free lessons to help kick start your learning of conversational Spanish. The lessons are useful and get straight to the point. There are also mp3s available that allow you to compare your pronunciation with the real thing.
Other features
Besides the search functionality, which is obviously the sites major draw card, provides a whole host of Spanish language information. I have to say that my favorite section of the site was the “Test your Spanish level” quiz. Naturally I decided to take the “Beginners” quiz. Unfortunately, my poor understanding of the Spanish language shone through in my final result. My score of 4 out of 17, probably says more about my guessing ability than my understanding of Spanish.
There’s also the Spanish word of the day. Here’s an example…
el apunte
English Translation: note, sketch, prompt (such as for an actor on stage)
The cost to you
This is the good part, 123TeachMe is a free, independent service.
In summary
123TeachMe would be a great resource if you were considering undertaking some sort of Spanish language course. As a general rule, comparison tools such as this are always useful, however this one has the added advantages of being both independent and free!
