Manic Compression

When I saw the URL for DiscountCompressor.com my first thought was, 'cool, I get to post about audio recording gear!'. Then I read on a little further and found that DiscountCompressor.com actually offer air conditioning compressor's. Seeing as though it's winter right now, air conditioning is not at the top of mind for me, although no doubt that'll change in a few months!

In other news, I found it curious that someone seems to have decided that this blog would be a good one to steal content from. By steal, I mean word for word post copying. I wonder how much money they are making from it? Weird.

Size really does matter

The price of flash memory has really dropped lately. Or what I should say is that the amount of storage space you get for you dollar has increased. It wasn't all that long ago that a 512Mb memory stick was the rolls royce. Now I'm feeling a little low tech carrying around my 1Gb stick. I guess that proves that size really does matter...

Mick Foley and the case of the wrong luggage

Briggs and Riley is a brand of luggage, that looks much like any other type of luggage actually. I guess having the same luggage as everyone else can be a problem every now and then, particularly at the airport. I guess that's how hardcore wrestling legend Mick Foley ended up with Maria Kanellis's luggage. No doubt it brightened his day!

Hoodia in danger of extinction

I actually thought hoodia was a brand of car, turns out I'm wrong. Hoodia is a cactus-like plant from South Africa that is used as an appetite suppressant. Obviously it's been used as a weight loss "wonder drug", and people seem to be buying. How long it continues to sell though will depend very much on demand.

According to a story by BBC News, on a report issued by Botanic Gardens Conservation International, hoodia is close to extinction:

Hoodia, which originally comes from Namibia and is attracting interest from drug firms looking into developing weight loss drugs, is on the verge of extinction, the report said.

Looks like a lot of people have been cashing to quickly, without thinking about responsible management of resources.

If you've been relying on hoodia to lose weight, it may be time to start considering alternatives.

Brutal toe hold

I've never heard of 'Smack Girl Fight' before, but if this YouTube clip is anything to go by, then it's brutal. In this clip, which was apparently fought under full MMA rules (whatever they are), Japan's Megumi Fujii defeats Australian Serin Murray via a 'figure four toe hold'.

What does that have to do with a gold anklet? Not a lot really, but from what I gather, the lady that lost suffered a broken ankle. Ouch!
