Girl charged with disorderly conduct for wetting her pants
The International Herald Tribune have reported that a "12-year-old special education student was charged with disorderly conduct after authorities said she deliberately wet her pants at school."
The girl's mother has told the media that her daughter had only urinated because she was frightened by the school principal.
The whole sorry saga got even worse for the child and her parents when police informed them that they could avoid a fine if they agreed to complete community service.
What is not really explained in the story is why were the police called out in the first place? Surely this was not a situation that required police intervention? Makes you wonder if there is more to the story than is being reported. If there isn't, maybe this is the first sign that in school discipline is being taken to the next level!
Edit: It seems that the Associated Press are now reporting that the charges against the girl have been dropped.
Superintendent Steve Keifer said Thursday that it was a mistake to bring police into a case of school discipline.
"I think the situation was one where the parents and school officials were frustrated, and that's why it was done," Keifer said. "At the same time, it was probably not a good idea."
Looks like commonsense has eventually prevailed!

I note that the Superintendent, Steve “Clueless” Kiefer, said that the police intervention was only “probably” not a good idea, i.e., I’m changing the policy because i can’t stand public scrutiny of how stupid my administrative team is.
