Branson, Missouri. Population 6,050
The first thing that popped into my head when I read "Branson"? Tender Branson, the main character from the Chuck Palahniuk novel Survivor. As it turns out, Branson is also a city located in Missouri. Branson is not a big place, with 6,050 people calling it home as of last count.
For such a relatively low population count, I was surprised to find that Branson is also home to more than fifty theaters. I guess that's why Branson can get away with calling itself "The Live Entertainment Capital of the World".
The Lonely Planet guide describe Branson as a "mini Vegas".
Branson is the epitome of good, clean, family fun and is a love-it-or-hate-it tourist magnet.
Exactly why Branson built a 1/2 scale reproduction of the original Titanic is not exactly clear to me, but I'll let that go.
If you're curious, and want to pay Branson a visit, checkout BransonGetaways.com, as they offer a massive range of package deals that will give you the chance to experience everything Branson has to offer. The packages all have impressive sounding names. There's the Silver Package, the Gold Package and the Titanium Package. Titanium sounds the most impressive to me, but I think they actually need to come up with a Diamond package. I think I've said "package" a little too much now. Te he he.
